Can it be done?

The bit above the stairwell as you come down the stairs is too low and I have to lower my head to get under it ( I am 5ft 5) Is there a way of raising the height of the stairwell without moving the stairs and is there much involved?

Thank you in advance.

You'll have to look what's above it. Is it a cupboard in a bedroom or something ?

  • The bit you have to duck under sounds like joists which form part of the floor above. To remove the joist or the offending part of it, depends on the layout and construction and would most probably be quite involved.

Think you'd need a builder to take a look, but yes it most likely can be done.
  • or just get one of these much cheaper option :D

There is always a reason for a low ceiling/stairway.

Compare the height to that of the ceiling/foor above.

It's usually done to get stairs in where they really weren't intended ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
