Print head cleaning

Hi everyone
I have a Canon i550 ...have it for 3 years and it was doing well until lately....It prints great in black but this past while colour printing is out of the question. Colours were all wrong. I used flush to try and clean it. and got the cyan and yellow working .... It seems the Magenta is clogged. Even when I steeped it for a short while and shake the excess water out......its always the magenta that appears.

I put in new cartridges, relined print head, cleaned print head with computer and still the problem remains.

Whats the best way to manually clean this....how long it takes etc.. I know a new print head is not the solution......cheaper to buy a new printer. But I still feel there is life in the "old girl" yet......smiles

Kind regards
Clare

  • Have you tried one of these, I have used them before and it sorted out my printer. What's more s that it's less than £2 so you not lost much if it does not work.

    Hi everyone

I tried the special cleaning cartridge on magenta and still no luck!

I wonder would a steam cleaner make any difference?

    Can anyone recommend another method.
I think I have tried them all now
    I would appreciate any advice.

    Kind regards

With the ip3000 I dunk the printhead in a jug of boiling water. Thoroughly dry it on a piece of kitchen paper. Seems to clear most clogs.

I will give it a go tomorrow and see what happens!
How long do I leave it in for?

    Kind regards
