Problems since installed sp2

I recently installed sp2 and have been unable to access various sites including hotmail. I can get to the screen to enter my username and password but after pressing enter all I get is a blank screen. This is on internet explorer 6 with their firewall turned off.
I just tried accessing my account on opera without a problem. Could anyone please advise me what could be causing this problem on IE?

It's not just the XP Firewall that causes problems.
You might want to read this article on XP SP2 and how it affects IE.0
