Hello everyone, I am now up to NSD #8, very pleased with this. I did buy my travek card for the week yesterday but I had budgeted for this and it is necessary and will save me lots of money this week so I am not counting itflubberyzing wrote: »Morning all!
Watching breakfast news, they're talking again about raising fuel tax in January. Petrol is so expensive now! I really need to think more seriously about those little drives I do that I don't need to. For instance, lately I've taken to driving to the post box, because it's a ten minute walk... I think I need to work on combining journeys a bit more. See what savings I can make.
God this is bad, this is why I can't afford to learn to drive, and I should really as I am 27 :rotfl:
BUT it does keep me fit and save me money. Do think about your little drives, as I don't drive a 10min walk is nothing to me at all, but I do think this takes getting used to when you drive, I am lazy haha so I can see myself driving everywhere when i finally get a car.
Try doing it a few times when the weather is fair and see how you feel. I am sure that it won't seem very far after a few times when you get used to it, it will save you some liquid gold and it gives you time to think and clear your head.Don't turn a slip up into a give up

You are absolutely right Suzitiger!
I shouldn't be driving a 10 minute walk! I never would have dreamed of doing that only a couple of years ago! It's funny how quickly people get lazy when they have a car.
I will have to go to the post box in the next day or two, and I shall walk it and think of you! As well as the petrol I'm saving.
That being said, I do struggle with longer distances sometimes. I have diagnosed shin splints which can flare up very suddenly, without warning, and can make walking incredibly painful. Touch wood though, I know my triggers (walking at speed and long but low upward hills), so haven't had an attack for quite a few months now.Because it's fun to have money!

Never been tempted EVER to get a dog. Yappy, smelly, jumpy, needy things that can't be left for more than a few hours at a time? No thanks!
I would like a cat someday though. I don't at the moment because I live in a flat and firmly believe that cats should have outdoor space to roam, which I can't offer at the moment.
With the cost of petrol looking like it's going up again, I will be making an effort to walk more. I just worry about my shins playing up though, because if I have an attack, I need to go home then. A 30 minute sit down to have coffee isn't good enough, but it'll just start up again the moment I start walking again.
If it comes on, that's my walking done for the day. Some days, when I go to the supermarket and have to park quite far down, my legs bother me because the carpark is slightly on a hill, and that's one of my worst triggers. I need to learn to slow down as I walk really! But I want to just get in and out as fast as possible! I'm my own worst enemy sometimes.Because it's fun to have money!
