Accidently balance transferred twice

Hi there, i recently got a barclaycard to balance transfer an existing £1000 from a halifax card. I completed the details of the balance transfer while applying and was accepted and it showed as pending. I received the card today and activated it, logged into mybarclaycard and the pending transaction had disappeared completely, no record of it. I re-submitted the details and thought that would be that, until i checked my account tonight. The transaction has went through twice so it is now showing as £2,052 of my available credit being used (£1000 plus £26 fee twice). I have emailed due to the time but i am worried i'm going to be stuck with a credit card with £1000 positive balance, could this reversed (it hasn't been received by the original card yet) or what can you even do with a credit card with a positive balance?!

Any advice would be very helpful.

Thanks.

I've placed my card in credit before and I simply spend it.

My last BT I transfered too much on purpose as I knew I'd have something that needed paying a couple of weeks after the transfer i was going to put in on a card anyway. So transfered too much leaving a postive balance. when the time came to make the purchase just used the card with postive bal

As Shelldean suggests, just spend your way out of it. You could also try to request to close the account with the +ve balance if you wanted to but they may refuse to give you a cheque for the balance because of their AML regs

You may find that Halifax return the money to Barclaycard. From your Halifax T&Cs...
11.7 You must not make payments or transfer funds from another credit or store card to your account that would leave a credit balance on your account. We may return any funds that exceed the balance owing on your account to the account from which the money has been sent.

...meaning the BT has cost you 5.2% in fees, rather than the 2.6% it should have.

So, they take it off the pending list when they're about to do it, but then they don't show it as done until the following day. Gotcha. Nice one Barclaycard!

Do they definitely still charge the handling fee if the balance transfer is refunded? I think if they did in this case, I would ask them waive it. Worse they can say is no

A few years ago we transferred a similar amount twice but had a large purchase a couple of day later so thought we could just spend it.
When we tried to pay, the card was declined. After ringing the card issuer we were told it was blocked for being in credit and we had to wait for it to be returned to our account so it might be worth ringing them.
