How (and why) do people sell things on Ebay for 1p with free delivery?

I was looking at completed listings for Pokemon cards as I was considering selling my sons unloved cards on there in a few batches. I happened to have the sorting list set to 'Price + P&P: lowest first' when I did the search and there appears to be a lot of sellers selling for 1p, 10p, 15p etc. and free delivery.
I then looked at a few other random things on Ebay and its happening in other categories as well.
What is the point of that? Am I missing something here? It's not like on Amazon where the seller gets a postage credit.
