Honda Jazz Full Service costs.
Hello good people,
I am loking to have a 2004 Honda Jazz 1.4 petrol with 92000 on the clock fully serviced. I have been quoted £120 incl VAT by Formula one autocentre who are willing to match any other qoute I find.
The last service stamp was 24/08/11 with 79000 on the clock. Is this a reasonable quote and has anyone got any experience with this company?
Many thanks.

I'd take a proper look at what their "full service" actually covers. They should be happy to give you a service checklist with the items they check so you can compare it with one from an independent garage if you can find one that's recommended by family/friends as they tend to give a more personal (and dare I say competent) service.
Also may be worth giving your local Honda dealer a call as they do price matching on services:

you wont get spark plugs you wont get fuel filter cabin filter.
you will get oil and oil filter and air filter the rest is a check sheek of visual inspection wich take 5 mins to complete.
no not good value for money.
£7 to £9 for an oil filter £8- £15 for a air filter and oil from asda (castrol) is about £22.00 take it to a good independant.0 -
As already said thats one expensive oil change and a list of boxes to tick if they find anything else that needs changing.
Very little actually replaced for that money.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Hi,I'm not sure where you are based as some areas have higher labour costs.
I have had four Honda Jazz cars since 2002.The last I had for 5yrs & did 98,000 miles in it.All servicing via the local Honda dealers.
At the above mileage & age I would think a major service is needed, unless the 79000 was a major as it should be a major service at 75000,then every 12500 miles. This would be about £240 at a dealer as All the visuals are done plus Oil,Air filter, spark plugs. The valve clearance are down for checking as well plus I'd do the gearbox oil as well.A minor was about £150 last time I had one done.I've not had a service for about 16 months though as changed the car in June for a 10 plate Jazz.
re oil this is the stuff.About 5 litres: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/EngineOilGuidedSalesCmd?action=findEngineOils&storeId=10001&categoryId=165581&catalogId=10151&langId=-1&findPartsVRN=true&vrn=yr54asx&findPartsVRNButton=Find
I use fully synthetic: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_743651_langId_-1_categoryId_165581_zygonArticleNum_167984_zygonGenericCode_000000_zygonId_12887438_zygonManPartNum_MOB+1+5W30+ESP+FORM
You could use this though : http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_157622_langId_-1_categoryId_165581_zygonArticleNum_172304_zygonGenericCode_000000_zygonId_12887430_zygonManPartNum_H+5W30+FORD+PT+SYN
Service parts are priced here if you fancy getting a local garage to do it : http://www.coxmotorparts.co.uk/genuine-honda-jazz-service-kit20052008-12-14-p-654.html
No timing belt check needed as it chain driven.

For comparison, my Jazz had a short service with 5W30 semi-syn. plus a new air filter and wiper blade and MOT for £248. Done by a Honda dealer in Ipswich. Not cheap, maybe, but they're honest: I said that they might need to change the front pads and perhaps discs but they reported that the pads had another 6,000 miles in them yet. I don't think that you'd get much done for £120.0 -
Many thanks for all the replies. I think I will buy the items required for an oil change and go to an independent garage.
Thanks again. You can have God without religion!0 -
A car as old as that just needs an oil and filter change.
Take it to National tyres who`ll do it for about £40.
Anything else that needs doing will soon be picked up at MOT time.0 -

a person who thinks like that is a person who dant care for their car.
and perhaps oil oil filter air filter spark plug spark lead anti freeze cabin filter isnt an MOT item so you could have it MOT'd and drive down the road and the engine sieze because theres no oil in it.
look after you car because in the long run it will look after you.
dont take it to a chain. take it a good independant as said before.0 -
