do i need sleeving for earth wire

just bought a 2nd hand electric cooker and went to wire it in but found earth wire has no sleeving..
do i need to buy sleeving to put on it or can i wire it in without?
i cannot find anywhere to buy it in my town and i do not drive....bare wire is aprox 2 inch in lenth..thanks

Yes you need to sleeve it. Covered by the IEE regulations -
(Check out regs, 514.3.2, 514.4.2 and 543.3.2)

Yes. Screwfix/Ebay/internet would sell it, or strip down any spare cables/electrical equipment you have to get a few inches of earth sleeve. To buy a metre of sleeve with postage would only be a couple of quid - better safe than not wired to current regulations.
It's a kitchen anyway - doesn't that mean it's under Part P and offlimits for DIY?0 -
