Electricity use seems a bit high, looking for advice

Well, the engineer was supposed to come out today to check out the meters. Waited in all day, never turned up. Now I have to give the supplier a final reading so I can switch.
I have been reading the other meter as well since I spotted the problem, so I know how much I've used. What final reading do I give them?0 -
I can see trouble ahead if you switch before this problem has been sorted.
The switch will be carried out with the meter that is currently registered to your property (the wrong one).
If you give the meter reading of the correct meter then it would be given to the old supplier to produce the final bill and would bear no resemblance to previous meter readings on the incorrect meter.0 -

Is it possible or adviseable to switch with my current registered meter and then get EDF to come and check out the meter? It's already cost me £14 so far in phone calls to spark and two days off work, one waiting for the engineer that never turned up. When EDF finds the meter issue could I then put in a complaint to spark for overcharging? I really don't want to stay with spark for any more than I need to. Would EDF be any more competent?0 -
So this has been dragging on for two months now. The engineer never came out the first time because Spark never booked it after I requested. An engineer finally came out last month and agreed that the meters are registered incorrectly. For some reason, Spark can't get the engineer report and have actually told me on several occasions that an engineer didn't come out. Remarkable. I can phone G4S and find out the report exists within two minutes.
I'm complaining to the ombudsman. Any advice on what I can ask to be done?0 -
The Ombudsman won't get involved until you have followed the problem through on Sparks 'Complaints Procedure' - The address/phone will be listed on your BIlls
Start the process by WRITING to Spark heading the letter Complaint, stating the date of the Engineers visit and his findings, and also claiming a compensation payment for the Engineers 'No Show' on the first booked visit.
Spark have 8 weeks to resolve the problem, if they don't do so in that time you then go to the Ombudsman.
In the meanwhile, keep a daily record of the readings on both meters0 -
Spark have a very poor reputation for both customer service and allowing customers to switch.

I suggest voicing your complaint on their Twitter Page, along with many of their other customers!. It seems the only way of getting their attention
