Speeding ticket in Italy - I wasn't even in the country!

An European arrest Warrent (EAW) can only be issued for the purposes of conducting a criminal prosecution (not merely an investigation), or enforcing a custodial sentence.[1] It can only be issued for offences carrying a maximum penalty of 12 months or more. Where sentence has already been passed an EAW can only be issued if the prison term to be enforced is at least four months long



Are you sure this speeding ticket doesn't meet any ofthe above criteria if ignored?

And that is exactly what had happened! Just a quick update, the hire company have confirmed it was their employee driving at the time of the offence and they are investigating. They even gave me his full name!

Once they've done the investigation (they promised by the end of this week) they'll contact me again with evidence of what they've sent to the Italian police and I'll get the admin charge refunded.

I almost got the impression that this has happened several times..
