PPI Claims Cargiant! Help

Options
Dear all

I made a complaint yesterday to Cargiant about a PPI policy missold to me 7 years ago.

They send me what it seems a template

They agreed to paid in full refund of all money I have paid towards the PPI policy and this included the interest attached to the policy. In other words, I will recieved a 100% refund of the money paid towards the policy However They have send me the agrement number with Bank of Scotland but they state that they cannot give me an amount because they do not have access to payment history. The finance company will calculate this.

They want me to sign an agreement without a payment amount! seems odd

letter below:

" We have just received your complaint. The earliest opportunity has been taken to reply.

As ever, we aim to bring fair and efficient resolution to the concerns you have raised and to restore your confidence in cargiant.

It is possible this, and other complaints we have received of late were influenced by the publicity some of the banks have attracted. Indeed many have been fined considerable amounts for their admitted "serious flaws" in the processes they used for selling PPI.
There is good news, in that cargiant are not in this position. However, as we provided protection supplied by some of these banks it is inevitable we have been linked.

With this in mind, and in this case we are able to offer a full refund of all the money you have paid towards the PPI policy, and this includes the interest attached to the policy. In other words, you will receive a 100% refund of the money paid towards the policy.
Please note this is a cargiant gesture of goodwill and is made for economic and efficiency reasons.

To accept this offer please complete the attached form and return it to myself, a SAE is enclosed.

Please note we do not have access to your payment history and as such we cannot provide an amount. The finance company will calculate this.

We trust and hope you will be able to consider cargiant when next changing your car.

Yours sincerely,

this is the page which needs signing.

Without Prejudice
I wish to accept the following offer as full and final settlement of my PPI complaint against cargiant as referenced above.

I agree to receive a 100% refund of the actual money paid towards the policy, and any interest paid on the cost of the policy.

I understand where and if applicable, that a deduction will be made for any benefit received as a result of a successful claim(s) and for any outstanding arrears on the first schedule (loan element) of the agreement.

This offer will be withdrawn on 21st August 2012.

This is a cargiant gesture of goodwill."

Please help anyone been on the same situation??

    That is quite common.

you sign the paperwork and send it back. The wording of the letter also suggests you are getting lucky on an auto payout rather than an upheld complaint.

    So accept!
  • I recently received the exact letter from CAR GIANT, I sent back the acceptance letter over the weekend so awaiting a response. My only concern are the deductions at the end, has anyone received a full refund? and if charges applied roughly how much?

    Thanks

You've misunderstood. Deductions are only made if you have already claimed on the insurance or if you are behind on payments (in arrears) to the original loan. If neither of these apply, you'll get a full refund plus interest.
