EBAY website not working

Options
Here's the scenario ....

Type 'ebay' into Google; selected the .co.uk version to open in a new Window and all that happens is that the Window opens and the blue 'progress bar' starts crossing at the bottom of the Window, but it only ever gets to about half-way ..... even after about 1 Hour. The Window itself stays blank (white).

Then I went to thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=42000 where there are some links to Ebay; tried one of those and the Ebay auction page opens-up, but when I try clicking on 'home' on any link on this auction page, nothing happens.

I'm gaining access to all other websites with no problem at all, and I know there isn't a problem with the Ebay website as I went on to it earlier today using another PC.

I am using a company Laptop though, but as I'm gaining access to other websites OK, and I know work colleagues are gaining access to Ebay on their Laptops. I've tried completely shutting down the system and re-booting but all to no avail. Task Manager doesn't indicate anything wrong either i.e. "..... not running".

What can the problem be?
It has taken about 4,500,000,000 (4.5 billion) years for the Earth to form as it is now .........
and it'll only take about another 100 years for mankind to really **** it up!!!!

Sometimes have this with other sites, are you running Firefox? Seems to work after clearing cache and after cleaning up with Ccleaner.

Went into Start/Search and searched for "cookies". Found all the Directories and deleted all Cookies from these Directories.

Shouldn't be any Spyware/Viruses as it's a Company Laptop with 'Norton Antivirus' installed.

Nope ... Company Laptop with 'Norton'!!!

  • Just tried it myself on MSIE, and no problem - straight to ebay home page. My cache is heaving as well.

Just because it's a company laptop doesn't mean it doesn't have any nasties on it.

In my experience when you cannot access a single - well known - website it's because of the things I mentioned.
  • All sorted ..... IT installed IE6!

I've been having a similar problem with Iceland's website. On IE it says "access denied" but I can access it via Firefox, although the site doesn't support that browser so not everything loads correctly and you can't process your shopping on it.

I've cleared cache and cookies etc (only ever use IE for the Iceland site anyway) but still no joy. Damned frustrating too as they're ending online shopping very soon and I wanted to get another order processed before they do :(
