From the sales manager of a Vauxhall dealer i buy from - "if we sell a 1.9CDTi Zafira we have to put £1500 aside as it WILL be back under warranty and it WILL be something major. If we sell a 1.8 petrol one, we'll never see the customer again"
Spot on-unless you're doing Plymouth to Aberdeen daily forget the diesel,1.8 petrol is the one to go for-1.6 petrol is underpowered.Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

Thanks that is really useful.
There is also a slightly older diesel version available (05), but I think maybe we'll go looking around some more. I found a Peugeot 307 (2007, diesel) slightly further afield & couple of other things to look at.
Shame though I'd prefer to go back to this dealership as they are reliable & honest.Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!0 -

The 1.6 diesel is the one to avoid in the 307 range - again of around 2005 / 2006 vintage. The 2.0 and 1.4's are 'ok' providing they've been well maintained0 -

Kept nicking my car because it used too much fuel. that would have been a 2005 1.8 petrol Zafira.
I was only doing short journeys so never noticed.
Manual or auto? The autos we have in at work are shocking on fuel. Not spent a lot of time in the manuals though so I don't know what they're like on fuel.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
