My Step dad is a keen birdwatcher, spends hours at various nature reserves and has a camera with a lens that's longer than I am tall! (Mind you at five foot 1 that's not difficult...)

Slightly off gardening topic I went for a walk along the River Trent yesterday and saw a black swan! First time I ever saw one, he was beautiful- got a couple of photos of him!

Hope you are having a good Sunday Ani.x

    Thanks x

It doesn't all have to be about gardening. :)

After all, there isn't going to be any gardening soon, especially if the garden is under 6ft of snow. :rotfl:Oh no, perish (scuse the pun,) the thought................All my hard work :(

Wow. Did you see the choir - sing while you work? S trent won. I'm a big G Malone fan. :D

Thanks. I've never seen any there. Will keep checking, although i did miss out on a garden shed. :(

    I need a shed.

Request one on Fr**gle then! I dug up loads of Lily of the valley when they finished this summer - sorry I composted a lot and gave a lot away and redistributed the rest round the garden.............remind me of my childhood garden so I will always have them growing somewhere

I think i seem to favour all these " old fashioned " ones remembered from chidhood?

Hmmm, i have some forget me nots, bluebells? Maybe i should take a midnight walk in the park, for that one? :rotfl:though obviously not just yet. :D ( i am joking, it's not possible.)

I heard on the news last night, my favourite dog is in danger of becoming extinct? :o

Apparently only just over 300 old english sheepies were registered at the KC, last year. :(

Still couldn't afford a dog though, never mind look after one. I can't even look after myself. :o

Good morning! Hope you don't mind me joining in. I am reclaiming some of my garden back from nature [a few too many brambles for safety when weeding]

I have just bought bluebell bulbs from W1lkinsons, 20 bulbs for £2 as well as being on 3 for 2, so 60 bulbs for £4. I don't know if you have a W1lco's near you though, could well be useless information!

Your fuschias look lovely and are tempting me horribly.... I've planted in a Doris dianthus and have been given a clump of verbena bonariensis, it grows to about 36" and weaves in and out of other plants, very airy and pretty!

    Oh wow :D

    Welcome piquant xx

    Pictures. This is fab........................:rotfl:

Yes, i don't have a w's close to me, but alot of my stuff came from w's too, when it was reduced, including slug pellets, all my bulbs and most of my seeds. If i have an opportunity to visit a £1 shop, b & m, w's, home bargains, etc, the gardening section is the first ( and only) section i head to. :rotfl:

I also purchased a whole load of reduced seeds from bookworks, i think it was, a bookshop anyway, 4 or 5 packets for £1 i think it was :D Petunia's ( that's the one,) in hanging baskets, in abundance, next year. Next year? Hmmmm

THE tomato is almost ready this morning. Decisions, decisions. Whatever the outcome, i am going to eat it on its own, just because i can. The next tomato is ripening now. :D My peppers are now almost the size of the tomato, and the pepper plants i bought, ( and therefore cheated,) which i left to die, are now growing more peppers, too. I shall have to start looking after them. I've no more room on the windowsill. :o

I have some very pretty pink plants in my garden, and i've no picture of them, and can't find them on the tinernet. It's really bugging me. I saved the seed packets for cross reference, but can't find them. Aaargh Sooner or later i will identify these lovely plants?

Far too many of my bulbs came from Poundland:o There was a stage when I couldn't walk past without popping in :o

I have no idea what bulbs I've planted where, it will be a lovely surprise next year to find out. Some will be more surprising than others, as my new cat digs up the larger ones and plays football round the garden with them. As I have no idea where they came from I have to find them a new space...

I'm planning on making a photo diary of how the garden progresses and it will help with my memory of what plant is where and how big it grows. It's only for me, but it will be nice to look at photos when the garden is dormant and dream of the spring.

I love petunias, some of them have wonderful scent, perfect for hanging baskets near the house. I've never grown them from seed, please let us know how you get on.

Bother....there is a Bookworks in town.....

Looking forward to seeing the photis. I wonder what happened to mf's garden?

Mixed, tbh. I bought some small plants which were fine, but my seeds never grew. Maybe it was a bit late on by the time i started the gardening kick?

They've put their stock away, now. :( Next year maybe?

It's somewhere you wouldn't think of for seeds?
