Returning Item - "Trackable Method"???

After logging my dispute with an item not as described, Paypal have ruled in my favour and are going to refund my money. However they have stated that I must return the item via a 'trackable method' and supply a tracking number.

Would Recorded Delivery suffice?

Anyone know what happens after I've posted it? Will Paypal tap in the tracking number in a few days and check that it's been received and then simply refund my money? Is it that simple?

what is the item? how much is it worth? is it heavy?

It's a mobile phone, but literally just the handset & charger - no box.

It weighs 230g ...packaged weight ready to be posted.

I would probably send back using Special Delivery @ £4.75 unless you paid under £34 for it

if its worth less than £34 send by recorded delivery, cost £2.08 packet size by 1st class, or £1.90 2nd class

over £34 send by special delivery cost £4.75

I would send back Special Delivery, even if it costs you more it will be worth it for the extra piece of mind and insurance

As far as Paypal purchase and sellers protection go, they want Proof of Delivery to be available/trackable online. Therefore Recorded Delivery will suffice, however under these circumstances I would prefer to use Special Delivery myself.

Thanks I've sent it Special Delivery - have a heard a few scare stories about stuff going missing when sent Recorded, so I wouldn't like to take the risk.
