Indeed... from BBC News website (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-17623422 )
More than half a million Apple computers have been infected with the Flashback Trojan, according to a Russian anti-virus firm.

"People used to say that Apple computers, unlike Windows PCs, can't ever be infected - but it's a myth," said Timur Tsoriev, an analyst at Kaspersky Lab.

She's off to the Apple store today so they can have a look!

    Many Thanks
She'd be better contacting the Uni's IT Support/Helpdesk in the 1st instance!

Thanks everyone for your replies, there was something on it which caused the uni to think it was a 'virus' the apple shop said it normally comes from watching tv on your lap tops and was easily removed by running a software update on her mac. All's well now.

The uni can probably find it very easily, because we do this where I work and it is not rocket science and not a scan, just corporate antivirus

If the virus broadcast and tries to contact and spread to windows server (like conflicker virus), the virus checker on the server will inform the server team and they will get the network team that will ban the mac address on the network.
