Upgrading to Pentium 4

I want to upgrade my processor from a Celeron to a Pentium 4. My quest is, will I need to change my motherboard also?
I have Dell Dimension 3000

There is a good chance you will be able to upgrade to a P4 you just need to find out which type of socket your mother board has s478 or 775.

It may be an expensive upgrade and not give you much improvement, ok a celeron to p4 will be miles better but the money could be better spent buying a new board CPU and memory even if you buy the lower speed cpu at least you can go further as you will have the current type of socket on the board.

the only other thing that could be a problem is dell's don't normally take a standard size/shape motherboard so you may be on a no goer from the start
