"Have you ever had a policy cancelled" car insurance

I'm slightly worried about this question when getting new car insurance.
On Saturday I was in an accident and my car was written off (I was not at fault). On Tuesday I received an email from my insurers saying my policy had been cancelled as my car was written off. I was told that the policy could be re-instated if I added a new car to the policy which I plan on doing but unfortunately I cannot just buy a new car to instantly put on the policy, it's going to be a few more days at least before I can sort out a new car and it seems like it need to get it before I get a valuation of the car that was written off.
Anyway here is my question. When asked by insurers if you have ever had a policy cancelled etc would this constitute a yes? It seems unfair for me to be punished for something totally out-with my control should I have to answer yes to this question!

Give your insurance company a ring, I dont think they mean 'cancelled ' in the same sense, but get it from the horses mouth.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
No you dont have to answer yes to the question. The policy has come to a natural conclusion by fulfilling its purpose rather than being voided due to none payment, non disclosure etc0

Thanks, just spoke to my insurers and they confirmed this!0

This question about having policies cancelled, refused, endorsed etc from my experience causes a lot of confusion.
It is designed to weed out people who have behaved inappropriately, such as deliberate non-disclosure to the insurer, and not those who merely do not fit a particular insurer's target market.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
