HSBC refused mortgage PPI claim due to timescales

Hi all,

I'm a member of numerous forums on here but this is my first post on PPI claims.

I've currently got 5 claims ongoing with HSBC due to mid-sold Mortgage PPI.

I've received my first 'rejection' today with HSBC stating they due to the fact my mortgage ran from 1999 - 2004 I have fallen outside of the 'allowable' 6 years limit to make a claim.

Now, I may be wrong but I didn't think there was a time limit - it was merely based on how long the bank held paperwork which could cause issues?

Do you think I should write to the FOB to take my claim further? Or will they respond in the same manner? HSBC almost admit I was mis-sold the PPI but I can't do anything about it now!

This is the first time I've claimed for this PPI and the first rejection so my mind us telling me its worth a stamp to the FOB!

Any advice would be gratefully received :0)

How can you have 5 PPI complaints? PPI is either single or joint. i.e. one product. You could have one each but most dont.

Are you sure these are PPI and not life assurance, critical illness and/or income protection plans?

Loans, credit cards and the (rejected) mortgage one would be my guess. I very much doubt the OP was referring to five complaints on the same mortgage!:p

    Folks,

I posted the mail for advice not to be scrutinised for the number of claims I have ongoing.......

I have had 3 different mortgages with HSBC and I have 2 loans as well. All have had PPI attached to them which were deemed (as HSBC have now told me) were a requirement of the product being sold to us.

I'll just send a letter to the FOS (apologies for the error!).

    Cheers - I think!???????

You're entirely too sensitive. Dunstonh simply made the assumption that you were saying you had five PPI complaints on the same mortgage. As this is impossible, he was pointing out what he thought was your mistake.
No one was being judgemental about your finances...

You posted inaccurate information that would not be logical or correct. If we dont get the right information then how do you expect us to respond with correct answers?
All have had PPI attached to them which were deemed (as HSBC have now told me) were a requirement of the product being sold to us.

All you need to do is provide your evidence to support that allegation and you would have a result. They will then pay out providing they still hold details and have not destroyed them.
