My partner is considering applying to university as a mature student for September 2013. We don't currently live together. He works but would resign to attend uni. He has a two year old son he doesn't live with and pays Child Maintenance for. I have a one year old daughter who lives with me. I am not working, as I stay at home to look after her.
I get: Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit, Child Benefit, Child Tax Credits, Income Support, and Child Maintenance from my ex.
He would qualify for the full student loan and grant, and possibly a bursary depending on the university he attends. I know some of that is taken into account as income and therefore could affect my benefits, but not how much.
Would he be entitled to Parents' Learning Allowance or wouldn't my daughter count as his dependent as she is not his and is already being supported by her own father?
If my partner moves in with me when he becomes a student, which benefits would we still be entitled to, and how much would they be altogether?
Also, if he got a part-time job while studying, is there an amount he can earn without it affecting the benefits?

I know, but it's about benefits too, so if I post there people might not have the experience of that, and I didn't want to keep checking two threads.
I just tried to post a link to this thread in the other forum but noobs are not allowed, apparently...0

All your claims would be based on household income - child benefit and maintenance would remain.Income support would stop and child tax credits may change (you need to close the single claim and open a joint claim)
Housing and council tax benefit you depend on the LHA (if in private rented) and his student finance - link below

It would be counted as income for housing benefit and tax credits

It's social housing, not private rented, does that make a difference to the HB/CTB eligibility?0
