PCN Lambeth - Can I appeal this?

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this but am looking for some advice as to if I can appeal a PCN I received in Lambeth this week.
I have scanned a copy of front and back but don't know how to out it in the post. Any pointers on how to do this would be great.
I received the PCN saying that contravention 27 had been committed. "Parked in a special enforcement area adjacent to a footway, cycle track or verdge lowered to meet the level of the carriageway"
I was parked slightly in front of a lowered kerb and to be honest I had no idea this was even a contravention. It was at the end of a road so not infront of access to a property or anything just for pedestrain crossing. There were no signs anywhere.
I am wondering if I can appeal on the grounds that only from my front wheel to the front of the car was adjacent to the lowered kerb and it was only slightly blocked. Is there an exception of only a certain amount of your car is blocking it? Also, the kerb is not lowered completely to the ground and there is a good inch raise between the pavement and the road. Can this dicount the charge?
If there are any other grounds in which I can appeal this I would be very grateful to know. It's £55 if I pay it in 2 weeks which I think is so extortionate. I wasn't even there long. If I'd have known I'd never have parked there.
Thanks so much in advance for your help!!

You can't post pics or scan here yet as a newbie, and if it's a Council ticket you'd be best posting on pepipoo where you CAN show pics and photos:
http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?act=idx
See their forum FAQs first 'how to post pictures' and then start a new topic in the Council Decriminalised Parking section.
And yes you can base your appeal on 'slight overhang' of a dropped kerb not being a contravention at all. In fact the CEO's Handbook issued by the London Councils (PDF of it is linked on the 'LondonCouncils' website) has a section near the bottom about not issuing PCNs for minor infringements...such as overhang. Lambeth adhere to the LondonCouncils Code of Practice and use that Handbook so read it and quote it back at them in your appeal.
And often the car isn't even next to the flat part of the dropped kerb. The sloping kerbstone is NOT the dropped kerb so you can be next to that, even if there's a white H line running further back.
And for the future, in all London Boroughs and in many cities, parking next to a dropped kerb is a contravention so beware, they do not need any lines or signs for this one. But you seem to have good grounds for appeal, so get pepipoo's help with it along the way. I post on there as SchoolRunMum so I will look out for your new topic.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you so much that's really helpful! I will start a new topic on pepipoo and also look into the handbook on the London Councils website.
Thanks again0
