PPI and mortage broker

I remortgaged by home in 2002 and again in 2004 using London and Country Mortgage co. I have cotnacted them to find out who they were with, as I do not have any details (mortgage was paid off in 2007) They told me I did have PPI with Payment shield, but it may have been for a free introductory offer only and may not have continued. they have offered to look into for me but want to agree to the following statement "your complaint is in relation to the misselling of PPI. while you had no specific concerns abut the policy taken out with Paymentshield, I want to check it has not been mis sold" This sounds to me as if I am agreeing that I took it out, when in fact I am not sure about this at all, and feel that by agreeing I may be admitting at the outset that I do not feel I have a claim, when all I am trying to find out is if I may have one. Help please?

    that post repeated here:
I contacted London and Country mortgages as they had arranged 2 mortgages for me in 2002 and 2004. I explained I wanted to know the names of the mortgage companies (as i no longer have details, having paid the mortgage off in 2007)with a veiw to looking into whether I had had, or been mis-sold, PPI.

No point doing that. Your broker is L&C. They are liable for anything sold. Not the lender.
    - I dont feel too happy with this as I want to know if it was sold to me at all, and dont want to say I had no specific concerns with it being taken out.
Can anyone suggest alternative wording, as this makes it sound as if I am talking myself out of a claim before I start?

They have said you had the paymentshield cover during the free period but didnt take it up and therefore paid no premiums.

So, there is no complaint to make as you didnt pay anything. Even if you did, both mortgages were pre-regulation for insurance. So, they could probably eliminate it anyway. Plus, paymentshield only did monthly premiums standalone. So, all the most common complaint reasons wouldnt apply to this anyway.

It is usually best to start your own thread on a subject as you can keep track of it easier. Plus you are more likely to get responses. These sticky threads at the top of the page getting post after post from people are a nightmare to follow and many of the regulars dont even bother looking at them but focus on individual threads like this instead.
