Laminate floor to carpeted stairs

I am just about to put in laminate flooring in my living room. I have a staircase that goes up out of my living room. I have taken the carpet off the stairs and I intend to get someone in to fit new in a few weeks.

The question I have is how should I leave the floor at the bottom of the stairs to enable the carpet fitter to do his work and leave a good transition from wood to carpet?

Is there a threshold fitting or something (similar to the nosing that goes at the top of the stairs)?

Even if there is such a thing, the edge of my bottom step is curved so I would not be able to put a straight bar in.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Fit the lamimate close to the bottom step as poss with a minimal expansion gap and when the carpet fitter fits your new carpet ask him to pad the step down to the bottom with underlay to hide this gap (only if its a big gap) mine covered ok without the need for the underlay.
:confused:I have nothing better to do!!!!
