Cheap international calls from Isle of Man

I have an uncle who would like to make cheaper international calls from the IoM, but many companies seem to be UK only, rather than GB. Does anyone know a cheap alternative for a land-line?
Thanks

    Don't 1899, 18185 and 18866 accept registrations from the 01624 code area?
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

It would appear not (are these companies one and the same - their websites are identical?) as IoM is not UK. Any suggestions from manx "Experts"?

    They are all sister companies.

He might be able to make cheap calls via the web. Get him to try this ring back service its free to try.

PS. They are part of same group as 1899 etc etc

You might try 0844 0845 and 0870 callthrough numbers, though as someone from there has told me, it's hard to get details from Manx Telecom about how these are charged

See the MSE Callchecker for providers

While we are talking about IOM phones, does anyone know how mobile's work there. Last time I went I even phoned O2 customer service and asked, and they didn't know what I would be charged. It seemed to be about a pound a minute to make or recieve mobile calls there, to from the mainland.

Thanks for all the advice - just had an email from 18185 who have confirmed that you CAN use their service in the IoM.
btw it is Manx Telecom there and not BT.

The access code 18185 only works from BT. So i assume they are telling you to use 020/0808 access. See: http://www.18185.co.uk/mobilerates.php

Manx T will charge to access 020 number. Are calls to UK 0800/0808 freephone numbers free on Manx T?
