New paint roller

Hi ,
I'm looking for recommendations for buying a paint roller for painting a smooth ceiling - whilst I want a decent one - I don't want to spend a fortune - anybody out there recommend anything please ?

i've always used harris rollers/sleeves. Probably will need a short pile sleeve. depends on the height of your ceiling and how tall you are. I use the shorter extendable harris rollers for ceilings, but then i am 6ft 3 so i can get away with it
Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.

£7.48 for the roller with extension

Double that for a longer extendable pole, but if you can reach with the smaller one id advise that as the longer the pole the less pressure you can apply whilst rolling due to the wobble in the pole.

Sleeves are around 3-4 quid unless you buy above and paint ceiling with included medium pile, which i do

I bought a Harris roller and had to throw the sleeves away as the walls were covered in hairs, and had to be sanded. Another one I bought was not great. Apologies to the previous poster, but pros have told me Harris are in general not good. I like microfibre sleeves, they load up well, and give a really good finish. The Harris microfibre sleeves are good. Wrap the roller in a plastic bag and it will keep for a day or two to avoid washing between coats. Personally I prefer short handled rollers, but some people prefer long handled ones.

this happened with me in my last house. didn't at my current house as its remedied by rinsing it and rubbing it to get rid of any loose fibres within the sleeve before you start painting. not the best brand i know but thought it might be a suggestion as the op doesnt want to spend too much

Screwfix and Toolstation do microfibre sleeves, and cheap too.

I picked up a Harris roller with sleeve and tray 1-49 in Morrisons Monday ,extra sleeve on its own 99p so put that back in favour of another at 1-49.
Do I need it or just want it.
