Thank you for your email to Andy Clarke about your recent experience when visiting our F*******d store. As part of Andy's team, I'm available on his behalf to respond to any customer issues.
I'm sorry you experienced difficulties when paying for you shopping at our store. I can imagine how frustrating this must have been for you, especially as the payment was incorrectly taken twice from your bank account. We want our customers to have a pleasant shopping experience, so it's disappointing we've let you down.
Whenever a transaction fails, or requires cancelling, the money is released immediately back to your bank. !However, these funds must then pass through their clearing system in the same way a cheque does. This is what slows the process down and is something we have little control over. The banks ultimately control this aspect of any refund back into a customer's account. !As each banks clearing system is different it can take anything up to 10 days for a customer to be refunded. !
My colleagues should have contacted Streamline, our merchant bank, to try and speed this process up for you. I'm concerned this hasn't been the case. Also our colleagues should be aware of the possible 10 day holding period and not advising 5 day, as this may not be correct with your bank.
I've passed your concerns to the store's Management Team so they can address the issues you raise. All colleagues will be re-briefed on our policies, procedures and the importance of delivering excellent customer service at all times.
For the inconvenience caused, I'd like to send you an Asda gift card for £20 which you can spend in any stores. I will send you gift card in the post for you today and you will receive this in the next 7 working days.
We value all customer feedback at Asda, as it allows us to understand what went wrong and get things right in the future.
