Years ago I was teaching in the inner city. I'd put some sandwiches in the class rubbish bin as they'd expired the day before.Just watching Britian's Hidden Hungry and I am flabbergasted. Some you feel sorry for ( the young girl who was in care all her life) but some of them need a reality check. If you can afford a massive telly, 3 dogs and a games system then you can afford food!!
Later I spotted one of the students taking it outr of the bin, unpacking it and eating it. I realised I'd never seen her buying anything or carrying food or drink to the lunch clubs we ran. There must be a lot more of this than people know.
