share protection

My wife sold her business in 2008, in the latter years she and her co-director had a share protection insurance policy with HSBC and she seems to remember that there was a PPI element built into the premiums, unfortunately she can not find any documents relating to it.
Would this have been common practice then?
Many thanks in anticipation.
