Microsoft Office excel 2010 not opening documents

Can anyone help, if i want to open an excel doc I have had to open excel then click open find file and then open it.
How do i set it so that when i click on a file it automatically opens in excel 2010.

Right click on the document in file manager and select Open With, choose Excel 2010 and make sure the checkbox 'Always use this program ... ' is checked.

Go to the file within Windows Explorer, hover over it and then click the right mouse button.

You will get a message (whiich can vary) which basically asks you to select from a list of programs to open the file with (in this instance Excel, or the appropriate program if you using say Open Office/Libre Office etc).

Alternatively you may be asked to 'Select a Program from a list of installed programs'.

Select the program and also tick the box saying 'Always use the selected prgram to open this kind of file' then click on OK.

Fabulous now working and tested on another excel document opened automatically in correct format.
