    I don't know why anyone expects any less when they enter the market at rock bottom prices.

    I don't like Talk Talk, i work for a competitor. But if they start their Broadband at £3.25 to bring the customers in, we shouldn't be surprised when they bump it a bit.

    Like BT's increases, these are above the % allowed so all Talk Talk customers can change providers or cancel no HTT.

    Is it possible to pay LRS in advance of it becoming due in order to get a further 12 months at the old price?

    For instance, I am with PlusNet and my line rental saver 'runs out' with the December bill. Their increases are due in November. By renewing my line rental saver now (done today) at the old price I have a further 12 months, i.e. the whole of 2013, at cost £9.49 p.m.

    Are TT customers able to do this?

    Trying to find this information for two elderly friends. They both took out the value line rental when it first became available and I'm hoping they can do with TT what I've done with PN. So if anybody has any info on this it would be much appreciated.
  • i cancelled my account with talk talk but they still sent me abill foir line rental and broadband even though contract ended and then saying i would be charged extra if didnt pay the amount in full although i owe them nothing

    Good luck.

    They kept on billing me for three months after I had switched. They did the same to my parents. It took the threat of legal action to get them to stop.

    According to this page line rental saver prices aren't increasing (can't see it anywhere), so there is no need to pay it in advance of the renewal date.

    They're increasing the effective saving on LRS (still £114) in order to encourage more take up.
    The downside is that you lose any existing discounts that you may have in place as as part of a retention deal, such as the £2 discount.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Frankly, I've just had the most appalling experience with TalkTalk. I would advise anyone who's seen one of their "deals" to consider it very carefully.

    You pay peanuts, you get monkeys...

    What happened? I've been with them for over 10 years and have had no issues at all.
  • I did a quick check to back up the MSE claim that you can escape within 30 days.

    The details are at talk talks site: /legal/terms/talktalk-product-terms.html.

    Pertinent bit:

    "Changing Our Charges
    10.16 We shall be entitled to amend our Charges or change the Tariff Plan you are on from time to time and we will notify you of such changes by making the amended list of Charges available on our Website. If Charges are decreased this will be reflected in your next bill. Should we increase the Charges we shall provide you with thirty (30) days notice of such increase and the increase will take effect from the end of that period. In this instance you may, in accordance with and subject to the provisions of clause 16.1, be entitled to terminate our Services made available under these Conditions. Any changes that may apply to VAT charges from time to time, which may result in an increase or decrease in your Tariff Plan Charges, will not be regarded as a price increase.
    "

    That seems to be subject to:
    "Termination by You
    11.4 If you wish to cancel a Service, the following will apply:

    11.4.1 to end the Call Service, you must tell us in writing 15 days in advance of leaving us.

    11.4.2 to end the Broadband Service, the TV Service, Mobile Service or the Fibre Optic Broadband Service you must tell us in writing 30 days in advance of leaving us;

    11.4.3 to end a Boost, you need to give us at least 48 (forty eight) hours notice prior to the end of the 30-day billing period that applies to your TalkTalk account through your online account which can be accessed at talktalk.co.uk/myaccount;

    11.4.4 to end the LR Service, you must tell us in writing 30 days in advance of leaving us. However, if you are leaving us to go to another telephone company, we will consider that you have given appropriate notice as soon as we receive notice from your new provider. In other words, you will not be required to give us 30 days written notice in this instance.

    11.5 If you wish to end this Contract, you must either call Customer Services or write to us at TalkTalk Telecom Limited, Stanford House, Garrett Field, Birchwood, Warrington, Cheshire, WA3 7BH stating your name, address and TalkTalk landline telephone number, or TalkTalk Mobile Phone number as appropriate. Any legal proceedings that may be issued by you can only be served by sending them to: The Company Secretary, The Group Legal Department, TalkTalk Telecom Limited, 11 Evesham Street, London, W11 4AR.
    "

    I'm no legal expert but it sounds like they need the cancellation in writing as well as the fact that my new supplier have asked them to pass my details forward.

    I hope that helps!
    Ben
