Ryanair prices - how do they work?

Just re-checked the dates that I wanted. Both legs of the journey have gone down from £80 to £60.
P.S. The MSE flightchecker hasn't checked that route for 34 hours & 122 hours, so I wouldn't rely on it too heavily.0 -
yes I have booked alot of flights this way
you get charged for two credit card booking charges as they are two seperate bookings, that is what I ment by booking charges,
sorry did'nt explain myself very well0 -
I did the same thing too. Booked 2 x one ways Granada to Liverpool and Liverpool to Granada as the Granada to Liverpool return price was coming up at 0.99E and £12.99 and the one way price was 0.99E and 99p!! Didn't have any card charges though as I paid for it with my Nationwide Visa Debit card and they don't charge for that, although they do for Switch, which is strange. I was gutted a few days later though when I got an email from Ryanair about their special offers to find that the Granada to Liverpool flight had been reduced from 0.99E to 0.49E - about 30p is that????? Well, can't complain as the flight only cost £21 return.0

booking one ways in euros instead of £s only works sometimes. Always check as you could end up with 2 booking fees AND a CC loading for a currency conversion. For my latest trip to Spain (£9.99 EW +tax) I tried everything, even going on to the SPANISH Ryanair site to do the booking for the return leg. The price was 17.99 euros+ tax so possibly slightly more expensive even without the booking fee.
OH and INSURANCE is now automatically added unless you uncheck the box when inputting passengers names.0 -
I've managed to avoid the card charges on the Ryanair site by saying my card is Visa Electron, as it's the only card they don't charge a booking fee for. I book on my Visa Debit card though, so not sure if this would work on credit cards.
Ryanair prices tend to fluctuate more than the other airlines, so you just need to be happy with the price you're agreeing to pay and accept that the price may fall. I booked a couple seats to Rome last year at 99p each, and the next day they were down to 49p. Needless to say I was gutted
Edit: cos my smiley didn't work the first time.0 -
Budgetflyer what are these booking fees you refer to? All I got charged for was the flight price plus tax - no booking fee and no visa debit card fee either. And as I used my Nationwide card, I don't get charged any fees for paying in Euros. Very confused..........0

Handling Fee is the term they use. Each passenger for each segment is charged £1.75 for CC bookings or £0.40 for debit card bookings.
I prefer to use a credit card for the extra protection it gives0 -
Booked my flights yesterday. £59.99 + taxes + £1.75 credit card for the outward journey. €59.99 + taxes + €2.50 credit card for the return journey. Works out about £20 cheaper per person by doing it this way.
So a big thanks to all, especially chappy & karenj, for your advice.0 -
