Moving a Telegraph Pole

I have bought a plot of land with a BT cable running overhead across it.
I need Openreach to look at it to discuss options to move it but they are asking for £600 just to come and look. Surely this cant be right??

Is the pole on your land, or just the cable overhead? How much are they paying you annually for having the pole on your land?
As for the £600, this does not surprise me.0 -
Thanks for the prompt response. There are no poles on my land, but the cable flys across. They tell me this charge is to visit the site and give a detailed estimate for dealing with the problem.0

Should I be paid by the electric company for having a pole and small pylon thing on my land.
I get £25 a year waylage which allows them to check its all safe. Not much.:beer:0 -

I want it moving because I want to build a house where it crosses. The thing is I have seen posts elsewhere where people have been charged just over £100 for a survey (which seems quite reasonable). And of course thats not the end of it, there will be further charges to move it.0

You get that as a wayleave, for allowing them to have the equipment on your land.
Electricity companies pay for each pole, and even for the number of stays.
I'm not aware that Openreach pay anything. In fact the b*ggers come onto my land without telling me, as if they were a guerilla group or something, so I'm considering making the access more challenging. :rotfl:0
