my study is wall papered with post its at the mo so i'll have to try a bit of organaisation
got one more long essay for the course to write then i'll begin my research and stuff mid may.

when i have lots of little piddly notes all over i recod them onto my dictaphone (no jokes - i know everyone uses their finger to phone)

its also useful if you have a sudden moment of inspiration and you cant be bumswizzles to turn on the comp just record it on dictaphone

Whenever it's due in, do not plan to move house, marry, or make other major life changes for at least a month either side ... preferably 6 months. You'll be knackered.

Must go and check my eldest is backing up his computer studies A2 coursework, due in on Monday ... I think it's all stored online somewhere but the technical details are beyond me.

Very true about spelling and grammar: if they are not your strong point, find a friend to read it for you at regular intervals.

PS have just read that your masters is in English Lit: hopefully that means you can spell, but trust me, the examiners WILL be able to, and will note every single typo and spelling mistake in your final opus magnum! And YOU will have to correct them all before they will award the degree!

I'm soon to begin writing my thesis for my masters degree and am feeling very apprehensive, esp. as i didn't do one for my undergrad degree.

does anyone have any tips on structuring the thing, structuring time whilst you write it? should i do it in one go, or write small sections at a time? did people find there was enough time ? (i will have from mid may to end september).

i'm interested to hear from anyone who has tackeld a dissertation before or recently as i'm feeling a bit bonkers over it!

I'm in the same position as you, smam21. In fact, I should be hard at work researching the thing now - which is why I've spent the whole morning on this site :o

lol! you should see how many posts i've put on here in the past few weeks - loads!
anyhow, i still have a project (on what kind of areas i'm planning to cover in the diss.) and a separate essay to do for mid may. From then on i hope to slog away...fingers crossed!

out of interest will you be working whilst doing your stuff? i have a job till mid June in my uni, but then i will prob get a parttime something or other, though i could probably manage on my savings, if i promised myself to get it done a month early or something...
  • i have to say, when i was doing mine i found that i spent a hell of a lot less money. going out becomes a thing of a past...you will probaby save a few quid without even realising.
