VERY quiet laptop

I've bought a Packard Bell laptop SW51-B012 X2 TL50 and have tried to watch a film on it this weekend and it's sooooooooooooooooo quiet. Tried turning up the volume and it's on the max. Am I doing something wrong, or is it supposed to be quiet?

Thanks folks.

  • You might want to try adjusting the sound levels by double clicking on the little speaker icon in the bottom right hand corner (next to the clock) of the taskbar.

Sometimes the levels here are set at half and you might only be adjusting the overall sound level

    Aye, that's a good call.

My Dell laptop was too quiet, so much so that I bought a set of active, powered speakers for it. I then had a thought and found the Advanced volume settings. Sure enough, things like "Wave", "SW Synth", "CD Player" etc were all set at half volume so even with overall volume set at 100% it was too quiet. Setting them to max and then just using overall volume control now has things working well without the external speakers.

Thanks Duncan - i tried it; there's 2 things to alter there and they're both up to 100. Ah well, back to the drawing board.
