Car insurance ripping me off

Is my car insurance ripping me off?
I'm 25, female and insuring my first 1.0l car fully comp.
My mum is a named driver and has over 15 years no claims.

Autosaint insurance are charging me 1300 for a years cover provided that I install a tracker box.

Lets just say I've been insured for 3 months and have had the worst experience with this insurer... False information, delays, failed appointments. Is there anything I can do to pay less?

The whole point of the tracker box is you get some money back for being a good driver after the policy is up. But should I demand more back? Theyre only just getting round to fitting the tracker and its been 3 months, it was supposed to be done in the first 2 weeks.

  • Going to Confused.com or other aggregators will quickly tell you if your paying the going rate or not. If your paying too much you need to check cancellation fees for your current insurers before jumping ship.

Dont know AutoSaint Insurance so is the box a positive or negative thing? Ie will they give you a rebate if your being a good driver and sticking to what you said you would or is it that if you dont stick to what you said then you have to pay penalties?

If it is positive then you'd be arguing they should be giving you the benefit of the doubt and paying those rebates for these months. If it is negative, as I'd suspect, then its to your benefit that its not been fitted even if the missed appointments are frustrated

£1300 for your 1st insurance with zero no claims is CHEAP...

If you want cheap you need to suffer the budget end of the insurance market where price takes priority over cover and customer service.

If you want a decent company without a box you maybe looking at £2000+

BUT as mentioned, Dont just cancel the current policy it maybe costly.
And whatever you do dont refuse to pay them because they will cancel the policy which will go against you.
Having to declare you had a policy cancelled wont go down well for future quotes. And possibly needs to be declared forever.

Have you EVER had a policy cancelled... Is usually the wording.
