Probation extended despite good performance

  • As said before, probation is a red herring. You can be dismissed for any reason (apart from those defined in law as discriminatory) at any point until you have 2 years service. They can just tell you to go with no reason if they like.

    Correct but if the OP is dismissed during probation he will receive 1 weeks/1 month notice where as if he is dismissed after passing probation he will receive 3 months notice.

    Hence why if I was the op I would not be entirely happy at my probabtion being extend either.

    As 'newbutold' points out its the notice period that is my concern. Finding a job in 3 months shouldn't be too hard, but 1wk/1month would be more of a challenge, particularly at this time of year...

    Doesn't seem like I can really do anything though, so I'll just carry on with one eye firmly on the jobs market.
