**Opinions required please**

Hi,
Im new to this site and require some advice please. I'll try and keep it simple and hopefully you can offer me some guidance.

Basically my parents have a 3 properties, one is their main residential, one is a house they purchased for me and another for my brother. Now I pay the mortgage and home insurance for the house I live in and recently I must have miscalculated and put less money in the account to cover the insurance and we recieved a letter saying the direct debit for our "total mortgage protection plan" has not been paid and please arrange payments.

Now my issue is my family had no idea they had this protection, secondly I thought ive been paying home insurance for the past two years and I think my house isnt covered then if that is the case. When I think about it we havent recieved any renewal premiums for it, but when we took the mortgage out im pretty sure they would have given a policy because home insurance is a must?

Now I want to know what the main reasons for reclaiming ppi is as you have read we had no idea we had it untill we got this letter.

Secondly my father was out of work because he fainted and his ankle was affected and he needed a metal plate putting in and we were not aware he had payment protection. If we did of course we would have contacted them to make a claim. however he is self employed so I dont know if that would have covered him anyways?

Do you guys think we have been mis-sold?
If I approach the company I dont know if it is a valid claim.
also because i have not then been home insurance can this affect me in a negative manner?
also how do i make a claim if there is one.

any feedback, advice, links would be appreciated
thanks

So, how do explain the medical questions being asked, GP details supplied and application being signed?

Yes. It is mandatory for you to have home insurance. Who did you arrange it through?

The TMPP product is life assurance, critical illness cover, income protection and/or MPPI. What elements do you have as only one of those is PPI?

He may not have payment protection.

The TMPP, if it does include the PPI segment, does cover self employed.

Nothing suggests mis-sale at this stage. After all, you don't even know if there is PPI.
also because i have not then been home insurance can this affect me in a negative manner?

No but get it sorted ASAP to stop it being an issue.
also how do i make a claim if there is one.

You complain. Not claim. Claim is what you do if you suffer a claimable event. Complain is what you do if you are not happy about something.

Find out what the cover is first. It could just be life assurance.

Although your claim takes the form of a complaint even the FSA themselves use the term 'claim' to complain about PPI.
