Car Accident - Some advice please

Third party driver went into the back of my car whilst we were waiting at traffic lights which were red. Third party has admitted full liability and her insurance company has said that I can get an estimation for the damage as well as be provided with a courtesy car.

In the meatime my insurance company has passed the claim through to Winn Assist who said they will deal with my claim.

The only thing is I am not sure if its best to go through my insurance company and use Winn Assist or claim through the third party insurance company.

Any one got any advice on whats the best route to take?

Your insurance will get commision for passing you onto Winn Assist, you can tell them you dont need them and either claim yourself direct or pick your own claim assist company who would pay you for going using them

Thank you. Any pitfalls for claiming myself?
  • Who contacted you first? There can be issues for you if the TPI has offered a replacement vehicle and you subsequently take a credit hire car company's car (often at three times the day rate or more)

No real pitfalls but the TPI wont encourage you to claim for other things where as the accident management company will always keep asking if your sure your neck doesnt hurt etc.

Even though you are claiming from an insurer its worth noting you dont get the protection of the FOS if you claim directly from the TPI as its not your insurer but then you get no FOS protection via a claims management company either
