This is why things like this happen time after time as no one will speak up. Yes they may get rid of her but so what? THEY are breaking the law and if she has a payslip she can prove that.

Because people sit there and say nothing this is why these thing go on.

What if you got a job and you are told you are on £20k but then when you get paid you are pnly being paid £12k? What do you do? Shut up and say nothing? I know I wouldn't.

If you actually read my post you will see that I said "....then pursue them for the extra money after leaving". In no way is that "Shut up and say nothing"!

Currently she has SOME income and is employed more or less full time between the two jobs. It is generally far easier to get a job if you already have one than if you are unemployed. As soon as she finds something else she should resign and then pursue the pub for the difference between what she has been paid and the NMW. It would be very straightforward.

What is the alternative? Get all righteous, get sacked and lose the extra money?

Why would you lose the money? Surely it's the same as leaving if they haven't paid you the correct rate.

My 18 year old daughter has just started work in a pub, and has been told she is an apprentice and therefore will be on £2.?? per hour. Are they breaking the law? If it's not a proper apprenticeship then, probably YES

does an apprenticeship involve going to college or receiving specialist training and qualifications? I am just wondering if they are trying to get out of paying the minimum wage. Very probably, try and look a bit further, they are willing to do this to your daughter, how many other people do you think they will do this to

    Completely agree with Sharon87
