Scottish Power Gas and Electricity Help
Does anyone experience of dealing with the customer service at Scottish power? I am having a nightmare with them I hope you dont mind me telling the story?
We moved into a new property and set up a DD for £68 a month with Scottish Power. All fine. Paid every month no problems with DD and about every 3 months someone came round and read our meter. Super. So we had to move as the landlord sold the house and I calle dup to tell them, fine, they can transfer the account to new address. Thought nothing of it and call when we had moved to confirm all had been swtiched over. It hadn't so I had to give details of new address, fine they said all sorter now, and I gave the meter readin from our old house (which i wrote on a piece of paper with an eyeliner).
I called Scottish Power again as we had a new energy company write to us to say thank you for joining them (our landlords old energy company). I called Scottish Power to say that a new energy company has got in touch with us about moving into the new property. A girl said "I can;t find your details, whats the new address" I think, they should know this already. She asked me to hold then disappeared for a while, cam back and said "all sorted" (what!?!) and i said "you have my meter readins etc or do you need them again?" "no its fine we have all your details here" Fine i thought, one month with new energy comapny then all should be fine.
So i got a letter from Scottish Power saying they owed ME £400. I call to say is this a joke? Nice man said no you were good with your ebergy. I thought "yes i was, we wer cold all winter!"
Then a call from same nice man saying "no, we got it wrong, we only owe you £25" Oh, ok.
THEN (and this is the really confusing bit) i get a letter saying I owe THEM £600 (they hadn;t counted our gas.)
Now it turns out they have no record of MY final meter readings and only have the ones from the new tenants (and something i don't understand about the removal of the gas meter from the property)
So i dont have final readings any more - they are long gone, i know what they looked like but i can't find them.
I also only gave entry and exit readings so there can be no "this is what i used" as an example. because people came to read our meters all the time so i just thought...well, that the info. would get back to scottish power. thats what happens right?
So confused....please help. we paid every month on time and we owe them 600?
Thank you
Apologies for being so wordy

In moving properties you would be in a Deemed contract with the new properties current supplier which could be a different one to them.
It sounds like you should make a complaint which means you can always take it to the ombudsman at deadlock or 8 weeks, whichever comes first.
Raise it in writing.
In terms of the values, you really need to see whether they have used your readings first to see if its correct. If not, it could be an estimate or even a new tenants opening reading which could mean the landlord never registered for an account inbetween hence lumping their use onto you by default.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
