Tesco Credit Card - Nearly at card limit, will interest take me over limit?

Hi everyone,

My first post so please be kind :)

Nearly at Credit Card limit, will interest added take me over my limit or doesn't it count?

I have a Credit Card limit of £5150.00. I (unfortunately, but of course my own fault! :) ) have a balance of £5068.46 on the card. Does this mean that I have £78.54 remaining or will I need to take into account interest that will be acrued at my next statement? I need to get petrol before my payday (next Wednesday, I will be making a payment off of the card as soon as I get paid) and was intending to use the card but will doing so mean that once Tesco have added the interest on my next bill I will be taken over my limit and incurr costs? Hope that makes sense! Thanks for any replies! xx

You need to always taken into account what interest is due to be added to a credit card account, and ensure you leave enough room for this to not got over your limit, otherwise yes it will push you over and you will incur fees and likely a negative marker on your credit file.

You should be able to work out what date interest will be added to your account from looking at the last statement, and then you can work out how that will impact on any additional purchases you want to make.
