USB Port speeds.

Options
I have 3 USB Ports on my laptop and I'd like to know if they're 1.0, 1.1 or 2.0 but when I look in Universal Serial Bus controllers it lists 8 USBs,

It shows six of these

"Intel(R) ICH Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2934"
2935
2936
2937
2938
2939

And two of these.
Intel(R) ICH Family USB2 Universal Host Controller - 293A
Intel(R) ICH Family USB2 Universal Host Controller - 293C

So how do I know which of the 3 USBs on my laptop refer to the above!

Easiest way to check USB2 v USB1 is to just plug a USB2 device in - from memory, windows pops a message up saying something like "this device could operate faster".

I would imagine that the motherboard could provide six USB ports but, being a laptop, there is room only for three physical sockets. If the laptop is less than about five years old, these will be USB 2.0. If it's very new, then perhaps one or even two might be USB 3.0, but in your case I doubt it!

OP seems to already know that it's not USB3, but to help others, USB3 has a BLUE inside to the plug instead of the WHITE of all USBs before it. Unless it's Apple who couldn't possibly have a blue plug messing up their beautiful minimalist machines daahhhling!
I don't actually know of a way to tell apart from Googling those specs above, looking out for the little balloon message mentioned above, or plugging in a stick and trying to copy something big, cos USB1 is MUCH slower.
