anyone know if before accepting an offer from the council for a rental they allow you a good chance to check out the property? I would like to at least check it out a couple of times throughout the day, or do they only allow a 5 min viewing?

The property is a GF flat and I really wanted a 1st floor, so would want to check out the sound proofing. I may not even get it yet but I've been 1st on the bidding list for today.

Anyone here not take a GF flat?

How does the sound proofing relate to the floor?

Aren't there any flats about first floor where you live?

yes but the one I look most likely to get is a GF flat, I'm in the front of the bidding at the min, I could refuse it but who knows how long I could wait for a 1st floor flat?

I guess I just don't want to turn down an offer if it comes, as I really want my own place.

The Council usually just allow you one viewing - most people are so happy to get a council place they don't ask for another!
I imagine it would be down to the housing officer to be available twice for you to view.
Bear in mind councils can take you off their housing list if you refuse a property unreasonably.

I've read the info on the council site and it says any number of offers can be turned down with no penalty.
