Ceiling mouldy?

We are in the process of decorating our living room. We have taken the wallpaper off of the ceiling and there is a large water stain across the ceiling. Directly above the area in question is the airing cupboard. It appears there was a leak of some kind - from the airing cupboard. This was before we moved in. We only bought the house in March. There is a large water stain on the ceiling and worse still is that the plasterboard in a small section appears to have gone crumbly. I rubbed this down with sandpaper (as there was black mould too under the paper) however I am not sure on the best course of action. Should we use a mould paint over it to stop it in its tracks (we will be wallpapering it) or do we take out and replace the affected plasterboard?
Really do not want to do plasterboard if we don't have too. Any advice be great!

Sounds like the boiler is leaking. Get that sorted before you waste paint on covering it up.0

No its not leaking now. It must have leaked in the past. We have a new boiler (not a new cylinder) but its certainly not leaking now but looks like it exploded in the past or when they replaced the cylinder in the past they never emptied it or pipes and leaked water everywhere0

Replace. Crumbly or soft board has lost it's strength, if you don't replace now you will likely have cracking issues in future.Herman - MP for all!0
