Microsoft Surface

Are these in stores anywhere yet? I want to play with one, not sure about anyone's experiences?

I read some of the reviews. (which were all much the same) Not a tablet I would bother with.

John Lewis is a good place to try things out..I would think that they will stock the Surface soon.

I think its only being directly sold by Microsoft.
so there wont be till 2013...

The hardware itself is supposed to be really good.

Software will be like the metro bit of any windows 8 machine which you'll probably be able to test anywhere after the 26th.

I've pre-ordered one personally, frankly the standard usb support, and treating file access like any other computer has sold it for me,
I mean If I have an external hdd why cant I just plug it into my tablet ?

There will be two versions of the surface, a RT and a Pro version.

RT is like the ipad in only software installed from the built in store can be installed.

Pro will be able to run all Windows 7 applications (and most vista and some XP) applications and also run apps from the built in store.

The RT will be out before the pro.

The RT is shipping, apparently. The Pro is a much pricier device.
