Rent notice at end of Fixed Term

Hi there, sorry if this has already been asked many times but I need clarification. Our fixed-term tenancy agreement finishes on March 18th 2013. We are in the process of buying our first property, and we will have an overlap between completion on the house and our tenancy agreement ending. What I am asking is do I have to inform my LA in writing that we will be leaving at the end of our fixed term? They probably know already as I spoke to them a while ago to ask about breaking the agreement and coming out of the tenancy early. If I do have to inform them, how long do I need? There is nothing in the agreement about notice, just the start/finish dates, and LL notice if they wish to evict.
Thanks in advance!

It's worth running an advanced search, this is asked several times each week. If you leave on or before the last day of the fixed term you do not have to give any notice but it is courteous to do so. Try to attend the checkout or take loads of photos with a newspaper in some images. Remember your contract is with the landlord, not the agent so consider approaching them if you would like any favours. If you intend leaving the place empty for any length of time you must inform the landlord or his agent so they can deal with the insurers, that should be in your AST.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Thank you. Yes, it's in our AST that we must inform the LL if the house is empty for 3 weeks or more. I thought this was the case and I was planning on letting them know out of courtesy anyway.First Time Buyer: Mortgage Offered, Searches complete, Exchanged 21/12/2012, Completion 04/01/2013! :beer:0

Not legally required, but certainly polite, as well as helpful to both parties.
