Interest free card wanted - to buy holiday

Hello everyone,

Wanting to spend about £600ish pound on holiday and will pay on credit card for now.

Ideally I'd like interest free so that I can pay it off gradually. I once applied for one (not for a holiday) with tesco who accepted me online, and then as usual when the documents come through it's actually 15.9% APR or whatever.

Can anyone recommend an interest free card that I am likely to get accepted for? I appreciate it depends on my financial position.

Otherwise, what cards are good to spend £600 on, e.g. benefits, or whatever?

Thanks,
RR

Does your existing bank offer a 0% purchase card? They might be worth a try (check their website to see if they have a minimum income level / age and if so whether you meet those first).

If you are worried about being rejected due to problems with your credit history this link http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cards/best-0-credit-cards suggests 2 cards that people with poor credit histories may be accepted for, but they do only allow you to spread the cost over 3months. Would 3months be long enough considering its only £600?

    Thanks everyone.

I went with HSBC and Nationwide - applied and accepted for both as I'm already customers of theirs.

I believe both are actually interest free anyway, so will hopefully use one for the holiday.

They will probably have an interest free period for purchases - possibly 3 months or so - but after this period expires you will be charged interest at the normal rate which may be around 19% on the balance until you have paid it off.

It won't be interest free for ever!

I have a suspicion you're not actually understanding what they've given you. If you are accepted fora 0% card, then that is what you will get. You will have an underlying APR that your balance will go to after the promo period, but that does not apply for the 0% period.

From your comment 'as usual', I think you may be binning perfectly good 0% cards. Which will impact your ability to get more if you're not closing them down.
  • Think a little more research into credit cards required by OP, you need a card that offers 0% on purchases ideally for as long as possible. You believe the ones you have applied for are interest free but your not sure and obviously you don't know how long any interest free period may be for.

Could you not pay a deposit on your holiday and then pay the rest to holiday company later this would usually be interest free.
