Driving experience days & extra insurance

I have had bought for me a days driving experience at a race trace with some nice cars I would never be able to own.
They now strongly suggest that i take out exra collision insurance to cover me for the £2000 excess they say Im liable for should I prange the cars.
Im reluctant to pay as I feel that I should be fully insured with the package and this is just a way to get more money out of me.
Your thoughts please.

dont bother its a waste of money, if it is on a track you will have run of areas. Very little risk of damage.0

Yes it is a way to make extra money but then hire car companies and insurance companies have always charged more if you want to lower or remove your excess.
Its fairly straight forward, pay it and be cautious or dont pay it and hope you dont have an accident - as said dont complain if you go for B and have a prang0 -
Don't bother, you'll be on track by yourself, and if the car isn't already electronically limited the person sitting next to you will be bending your ear to get you to drive the car sedately anyways, so the chance of you crashing is slim.0

I've done a few of these and never taken the insurance. Like the King sez - the instructor will be checking whether you are likely to prang it before you get the chance and not letting you loose on the track alone if you appear to be not up to it.
If somebody prangs you - then you might have to fight to prove it was their fault not yours.I need to think of something new here...0 -
Still a chance of a small bump, even a small bump in a Lambo or whatever will cost minimum of £2K.
Check the wording, if you are liable for the excess no matter whos fault it is, then I would pay the £30-£50 of whatever it is.
I went on a driving "day", more like driving 20 minutes and bought the excess waiver just for piece of mind as I would of had to borrow £2k if anything did happen."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -
been on a few of those driving days never bought extra insurance, and never had a prang and never seen anyone else have a prang,
plenty of run off areas.
Of course if you are areally bad driver then it may be different:D
at the end of the day though it is your call0 -
get the insurance and drive like an absolute loon your covered so dont worry about it
if your worried about the 2k excess you wont enjoy the "thrill"0 -
Get it as on a track day you're pushing the car anyway.
It doesn't happen? I did a Silverstone Exige experience. One of the driving Gods that was on my team ran out of driving talent and stuck it in the barrier.
Also attended a AMG hour at Mercedes world. The day before someone was driving the SLS and also ran out of talent. The repair was estimated at £50K.0
