I have got warm air heating in my house and I love it! The last owners had a new boiler put in and it works great. The heat is instant and you can charge it up over night on economy seven. The only down side is no radiators to hang wet clothes on! Is there any reason you are thinking of changing it or is it just old?

It won't be as ugly as having new pipes running all over the house.

Warm air heating is great. When you get back from holiday in the middle of winter, you can flick it on and 15 mins later the house is nice and toasty.

I am about to move into a house with warm air heating, also had it in a house years ago. I think it is a great system.

A word of warning if you are thinking of putting in a wet radiator system; my (soon to be) neighbours had radiators put in to replace the warm air system - the loss of wall space was amazing ! When you don't have radiators you don't realise how much space they will take up - of course this then has a major impact on where you can place the furniture.

I would seriously suggest keeping the warm air system going, if the heater unit is old/going US you can get modern efficient units for far less than a complete new wet system.

Another vote here for forced air...used to think I was missing out on something when I had it, but having now moved to a house with radiators, I realise that all I was missing was 10 clothes dryers and a load of mess.

We had it when I was a child and I used to love being able to sit next to the nice toasty hot air vents after coming in from a cold play out in the snow. We used to have proper weather then (this was the 1970s).

I agree with all the other posts that suggest it's far more sensible to replace the heater unit than to throw out the whole system.

I wonder what proportion of those 1970s systems are still in the houses?

Blinking heck - a search on Rightmove shows a bungalow in the road we used to live in sold for £400k+ - wow! And it's got radiators (so probably had the original system replaced) - shame. :(
