    Good luck, Clare!

You could ask them about any training opportunites that you may be able to access..
...this can give the impression that you're very commited to giving them you're very best.

    good luck!

    Good luck for this morning!
Its often the way that at the end of the interview they ask you if you have any questions, and you could ask something tactful like "could I ask what the salary is likely to be in the region of" and also ask (if its applicable) what their expectation of working hours are (but you might already be clear on that point, I don't know?)

Hope it goes really well for you.

You could aslo ask about pensions etc, show you're in for the long term. I'll have my fingers crossed for you, let us know how you get on.

Personally, I wouldn't ask about the salary. As tempting as it is, they might either tell you in the interview or you'll find out if you get offered the role. If you have done your research about the company and have some questions to ask about progression etc at the end of the interview that will sound much better.

    Good luck!

Definitely make sure you have looked the company up and know what they are about! Really annoys me when people say they haven't a clue who we are - 'why do you want to work for us then?!!'

Salary to be fair will probably be covered by them.

Definitely ask about training program and career opportunities.

    found these on a website:
What's the makeup of the team as far as experience?
What does this company value the most and how do you think my work for you will further these values?
What kinds of processes are in place to help me work collaboratively?
What do you think can I bring you to add value?
What's the most important thing I can do to help within the first 90 days of my employment?
Do you have any questions or concerns about my ability to perform this job?
When key people leave the company, why do they leave and where do they usually go?
What potential do you see in me?
What do you think are my strongest assets and possible weaknesses?
Do you have any concerns that I need to clear up in order to be the top candidate?
What level of performance do you expect from me?
    Who are your customers?
Where is the company going? Upwards? Expansion plans?
What are the chances of advancement/promotion in this position? When?
What will be my salary, benefits and bonuses? [Do not bring this up too early in the interview - wait until they are sold on you.]
Will travelling be required in this position?
Will relocation be required now or in the future?
    What training do you provide?
When will you decide on the appointment?
    What is the next step?

    Good Luck

Sorry, just read the timescales and realised I'm probably too late - but hope it went well

    Hi guys,

Lisa T thats some fab advice but unfortunately I didnt get to read it before I left the house! BUT, I will definitely keep this for my next interview as theres loads of stuff there I didn't even think of.

And I'm sure there will be a next time for me, the interview went rubbish. Basically I had a call from an agency late last night saying they had a job in a private hospital, similar to what I'm doing now but for more money, would I be interested? So of course I said yes, and she asked me to come in and register tomorrow (i.e. today) and she would arrange an interview.........

So in I go to register, finished registering at 1130 and she hands me a pile of sheets of paper and tells me that "your interview is at 1230"!!!! She did say it would be today but I thought I would have chance to come home first and do some research on the company! She wouldnt tell me last night who the employer was, agencies dont like to do that do they?

So the upshot is that I went completely unprepared, didn't really have time to read any of the stuff she gave me as was driving to the interview and by the time I got there I had literally 10 mins before I was due in!

Then as I was so unprepared and flustered I made a complete pigs ear out of the whole interview, I mumbled and stumbled through all of the questions, some of the things I said didn't make any sense at all, looking back it's making me cringe!!!!!!! ARRRRRGH!!!

They said that they would let the agency know "this evening". I rang the agency at 430 and they hadn't heard nowt, its now 6:10pm so I think its safe to say I haven't got it!!

The worst thing is I forgot to even give them my cv at the end so that they could see what qualification I have etc!! DUH!

Probably best I didn't get it I'm not sure if a blundering idiot like me should be employed by ANYONE!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the advice this morning guys.

at the end of the day sugar you were set up to fail! Dont blame yourself!!! Your agent should have given you adequate amount of time to prepare, not haphazard as it sounds!

Also the agent should have given them a copy of your CV anyway, not you

Chin up, but if I was you Id be talking to your agent pronto about thier lack of preparation!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

    Hi Lynz.

I do agree with you, I've worked in agencies before and I was always well prepared where my candidates were concerned. I mean she could have just broken the rules once and told me who the company was last night so that I could have done some research myself, OR asked if it was possible for me to be interviewed later or even tomorrow.

The real shame is, it was a lovely place, exactly the sort of thing I wanted to do and for more money than I'm being paid! The perfect job!

Oh well, these things happen I suppose.

    Thanks for your kind words.

The first thing I would have done is apologise for not having been able to properly prepare, as you only had one hour's notice. Then at least they know why you're not prepared, and that you know you should be. (My boss once asked, in interview, what preparation someone had done for the interview. The reply? "I got up early, had a shave....." :rotfl: )

One good question: "If I am unsuccessful on this occasion, is there anything to prevent me from re-applying in the future?"

Shows you're keen enough to keep trying....;)
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

You originally asked whether questions about salary were appropriate.

In general I would advise against raising the issue - until you have the job offer. Make sure they want you and then you can talk about pay.
